Violent Cop

Azuma witnesses a gang of teenage boys beating a homeless man for fun. He enters the gang leader's home, administers a brutal beating, and forces the leader to promise he and his friends will turn themselves in.

Although his violence gets results, Azuma's actions are unofficially tolerated by his superiors. They keep him on the force by making him write apologies after unlawful acts, preserving the appearance of accountability.

Azuma and his new partner Kikuchi are assigned to investigate the murder of a drug dealer. The assignment pulls them into the criminal world and tests their uneasy partnership.

During a drug deal broken up in a nightclub bathroom, the seller names Azuma's friend Iwaki as his supplier. The revelation ties Azuma personally to the yakuza network and deepens the stakes.

Iwaki, a vice squad detective, vanishes after newspapers expose his yakuza ties. A fisherman later discovers Iwaki's corpse hanging from a noose under a bridge, shattering Azuma's trust in his colleagues.

Azuma's attempts to track the dealers lead nowhere; instead, Kiyohiro, a sociopathic yakuza hitman, executes the two men. The killings deepen the underworld's reach and complicate Azuma's pursuit of justice.

Unable to challenge Nito directly, Azuma drugs and tortures Kiyohiro in the police station to extract information. The brutality prompts the deputy chief to order Azuma's resignation to protect the force from investigation.

On his first day of unemployment, Kiyohiro's men kidnap Akari and take turns raping her while drugging her. Azuma's protective stance drives him toward vengeance, and the horror sharpens his resolve to stop the yakuza.

Kiyohiro defies orders and attacks Azuma on a busy street. A gun misfires, killing a young woman while Kiyohiro grabs a knife, and Azuma stabs him in the leg to escape.

Knowing a confrontation is coming, Azuma buys ammo and an unregistered firearm from a friend at a gambling parlor and practices shooting. He steels himself for the inevitable clash with Kiyohiro.

Azuma and Kiyohiro face off in a climactic gunfight. Although badly wounded, Azuma kills Kiyohiro as he tries to mount another attack, bringing the immediate threat to an end.

Azuma reunites with Akari only to find her hopelessly addicted and scavenging Kiyohiro's corpse for more. He mercy kills her with his final bullet, choosing mercy over prolonging suffering.

A badly-wounded Azuma attempts to leave but is killed by Shinkai, Nito's former advisor, who seeks revenge for Azuma killing Nito under the mistaken belief that it was ordered.

Sometime later, Kikuchi, now a senior detective, meets with Shinkai. Shinkai explains that the heat around Azuma has cooled and asks Kikuchi to take over Iwaki's drug-selling operation within the police.
