What Happens in Trojan War: Full Plot Summary

The whole story of Trojan War (1997) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

Brad, Will Friedle is a high school student who has carried an unrequited crush on his classmate Brooke for years. When she invites him over one night to tutor her, she drops a surprising condition: she wants to have sex, but only with protection. Realizing he doesn’t have a condom, Brad sets off on a wild, messy quest to find one, hoping to turn a awkward moment into something closer to normal.

What follows is a string of chaotic misadventures that test his patience and his luck. His dad’s sportscar is stolen and then wrecked, leaving him fending off the consequences at home. A run-in with a wildly unpredictable bus driver, Anthony Michael Hall, lands him in more trouble than he bargained for. He’s briefly held hostage, and a stern school janitor, Paulo Tocha, accuses him of graffiti as if the night couldn’t get more surreal. A pair of Hispanic siblings who mistake him for David Hasselhoff add a bizarre moment of confusion, while Brooke’s dog complicates the plan even further. Brooke’s jealous boyfriend Kyle, Eric Balfour, stirs tension and sticks around like a shadow, and a homeless man named Ponytail Guy, Steve Valentine, hounds him for two dollars and has secretly stolen Brad’s wallet. By the time the dust settles, Brad finds himself under arrest, a night he would rather forget.

Yet relief comes in the form of a police officer, Lee Majors, who eventually gives him a condom and releases him. With the immediate crisis behind him, Brad experiences a quiet, illuminating realization: the person who might truly complete him has been there all along—his best friend Leah Jones, Jennifer Love Hewitt—a girl who has harbored feelings for him for years, though he never recognized it. The investigation into Brooke’s true nature follows, revealing that she wasn’t looking for a genuine relationship but rather a one-night stand, a truth that reshapes Brad’s view of love and what he wants.

Moved by this new awareness, Brad races to tell Leah how he feels, and the two share a tender kiss beneath the moonlight. The story closes on a note of hopeful mischief and ordinary reality—Brad’s parents are left to reckon with the odd aftermath of the night when the tow truck finally returns their heavily damaged car, a bizarre badge of the wild ride they’ve survived together.
