Ending explained
How Traumatika (2025) ends, in short: the final scene, the last twist and what it means for the characters. The full ending explained, with every spoiler, lives on its own page.
In the film’s closing act we jump twenty years forward to find Alice Reed living off the infamy of her sister Abigail. She has turned the gruesome saga into a bestselling book, Mommy Monster, and appears on a daytime talk‑show hosted by the opportunistic Jennifer Kovak, who is more interested in ratings than in the human cost of the tragedy. As Alice tries to distance herself from the horror that haunted her family, Mikey, the lone child who survived Abigail’s house of terror, returns in a Halloween costume. The trauma he endured has twisted his mind; he believes the demon Volpaazu still haunts him and that Abigail was innocent, so he forces his way into Alice’s home, demanding she become his “mother.” After a brief, desperate standoff in which Alice wrestles a gun from him, Mikey slips away, only to reappear later at the studio where Jennifer is filming.
Mikey, now completely unhinged, murders Alice’s boyfriend Alex and then goes on a rampage through the set, slashing anyone in his path. In the chaos he confronts Jennifer, who, despite her cold commercialism, is forced to act. She manages to stab Mikey, ending his murderous spree just as he turns his blade toward Alice, who arrives by chance and is saved at the last second. With Mikey’s lifeless body on the floor, Jennifer, unfazed, asks Alice whether she’d be willing to do another interview, underscoring the film’s critique of media exploitation of trauma. The final shot lingers on the buried relic of Volpaazu still hidden in the basement of Abigail’s dilapidated house, hinting that the malevolent force remains poised to awaken again and ensnare new victims.
