Emerging in late‑1970s Johannesburg, National Wake fused anti‑establishment punk with a demand for racial freedom, earning a devoted underground following. Their only record was banned by the apartheid regime, and the band dissolved within years; the Khoza brothers died young. Director Neff avoids talking‑heads, using an immersive audio‑visual archive—Super‑8 footage and rare recordings—to craft a visceral portrait of the dissident group and its lasting legacy.
