Drifter Ted Beaubien, living by the rule “shoot to kill,” is captured during the 1926 Chinese Civil War and forced to watch his girlfriend’s execution. He escapes, swears revenge, and embarks on a perilous mission to buy guns abroad and smuggle them home. Returning to a destitute hometown, he finds his mother and brother penniless. While arranging the deal, he falls for nightclub owner Maud Ryan, whose introduction to ruthless gangsters makes love as dangerous as his gun‑running.
