A made‑for‑TV adaptation of the classic Jewish folktale, the film follows Sender (Theodore Bikel), a young Jewish man who loves Leah (Carol Lawrence). When her father arranges her marriage to another, Sender dies of grief and his spirit, a dybbuk, possesses Leah on her wedding day. Rabbi Azrael (Ludwig Donath), the narrator, is tasked with exorcising the dybbuk from her body.
