The Crypt

In 1979, a lone grave robber slips into a city crypt and begins stuffing jewelry into his pockets. He pushes further for more despite the growing danger. The undead emerge and kill him, serving as a grim warning to anyone who disturbs the tombs.

Decades after the incident, an ex-prisoner is picked up by his girlfriend. She invites him to a meeting with a crew of thieves who want quick money from the crypt beneath the city. She claims they can move the loot easily through her connections.

An experienced thief lays out the plan to raid the crypt, proving the potential loot with a gold ring. She explains that wealthy families hid their riches in crypts during the Great Depression and could still be sold. She promises fast money if they join the job.

The others are hesitant at first, wary of the danger. The ringleader persuades them with visions of easy wealth and a way out. After some doubt, they commit to the plan.

The group enters the crypt beneath the city and begins filling backpacks with diamond necklaces and other valuables from the coffins. The thrill of loot drives them on, even as the air grows heavy. They press deeper into the tombs in search of more treasure.

One by one, members are killed by the undead, who seem to exact revenge on the intruders. The survivors realize this is no ordinary robbery. Fear spreads as the crypt becomes a deadly trap.

The ringleader and the ex-prisoner's girlfriend manage to escape the crypt alive. Before leaving, they discard the jewelry to avoid attracting the undead. They emerge into the outside world with nothing but fear.

Back at the ringleader's apartment, she discovers a very expensive diamond piece she swears she stashed in her brassiere. Her friend grows furious and urges her to get rid of it to avoid more trouble. The tension reveals that greed can be as deadly as the undead.

The ringleader hides the diamond piece in her car, hoping to keep it safe. The undead close in, and she is killed by the same hunter who claimed so many others. The fate of the treasure remains uncertain.

The surviving woman dreams that her boyfriend is undead and furious about being left behind in the crypt. The nightmare unsettles her and nudges her toward returning to the crypt to confront the truth. It foreshadows that the danger has not ended.

She returns to the crypt and finds the boyfriend still alive, despite the prior danger. She dumps the jewelry into the water to destroy it, but he hints that more treasure may still be hidden elsewhere. The tension between fear and greed intensifies.

The undead attacks again and crushes the boyfriend's head, ending his threat. The survivor is left in shock as the crypt falls into a hollow silence. The film ends on her stunned face and the looming threat of the undead.
