American draft‑dodger and aspiring writer Nero Finnigan is drawn into the world of the infamous crime lord Mr. Go. Together they plot to blackmail a U.S. weapons scientist, forcing him to supply secret technology that Mr. Go will sell to the highest bidder. Their scheme is disrupted when a CIA operative known as “The Dolphin,” also a James Joyce scholar, arrives to retrieve the scientist and his work by any means necessary.
