The superstitious villagers view her with suspicion. Her ability to cure the sick with herbs and a romance with farmhand Aslak (Bjørn Skagestad) stir rumors of witchcraft. When a vindictive bailiff formally accuses her, Ingeborg fights to save her, while the stress drives Aslak to his death, casting a grim shadow over the looming trial.
