The ending of Uprising offers a poignant reflection on loyalty, misunderstanding, and the destructive power of social hierarchies. After years of separation, Cheon-Yeong and Jong-Ryeo reunite amid the chaos of the Japanese invasion and a newly violent internal rebellion. Jong-Ryeo, who has wrongly believed Cheon-Yeong was responsible for his family's tragedy, is surprised to learn the truth of his wife's sacrifice—that she chose to die with her son rather than be saved by Cheon-Yeong, whom she looked down upon due to their social differences. This revelation shatters Jong-Ryeo's misconceptions, and in that moment of clarity, he realizes how prejudice and class division have poisoned their friendship for years. During the fierce fight, Genshin, the Japanese general, fatally wounds Jong-Ryeo, who manages to ask Cheon-Yeong if they are still friends, echoing the innocent question from their childhood. It’s a heartbreaking scene that signifies their reconciliation and the end of their misunderstanding, even as Jong-Ryeo succumbs to his injuries. Cheon-Yeong’s grief is profound, but he avenges Jong-Ryeo by killing Genshin and rushes to his friend’s side, highlighting the deep bond that ultimately remains unbroken despite all the hardships.

Meanwhile, the story also critiques the corrupt leadership of King Seonjo, who abandons his people as Japan invades. His greed and treachery are exposed when Genshin reveals that the promised “treasure” is actually human body parts, symbolizing the brutal dehumanization caused by greed and war. This revelation underscores the futility and tragedy of the corrupt political system. Despite the chaos, Cheon-Yeong and his comrades manage to form a community called "Beom Dong," representing a hope for unity and a better future. Yet, the film leaves us with a somber reminder that history tends to repeat itself; peace in Beom Dong might be temporary, and conflict could rise again. The ending thus emphasizes the enduring human desire for connection and harmony, even amid the darkness of societal corruption and war.
