After her mother's mysterious death, Ruth (Stéphanie Magnin) returns to the family house she left as a child. Ruth realizes that the cut on her leg came from Alejandro's bicycle and that the missing boy drowned rather than being abducted for Certyx's supposed experiments. She races to stop Martín and Berta from destroying the company building, but arrives too late; the explosion kills them both. The simpler explanation for Alejandro's death exposes the conspiracy as a structure Martín built around grief, while Lucia's own death remains tied to alcohol and the family's unresolved blame rather than to the murder plot Ruth suspected. Ruth sells the house, moves to Madrid, and resumes swimming, carrying her parents' memory without continuing her father's investigation.
A stranger later recognizes Ruth as Martín's daughter and insists that Martín could not really have died in the rubble. His certainty turns the dead conspiracist into an urban legend and demonstrates that disproving one claim does not end the appetite for another. The final encounter is deliberately mundane and frightening: no hidden Certyx program is revealed, yet the absence of dramatic proof becomes fuel for believers who prefer their own narrative. Ruth can leave the town, but she cannot control the story strangers make of her family. The ending's anti-climax is its point, locating the durable threat not in a pharmaceutical tunnel but in the way loneliness and loss can make uncertainty feel intolerable.
