Doctor Kozo Tsumura falls for nurse Katsue Takaishi, a widow. They plan to elope to Kyoto, but her child's sudden illness makes her miss the train, leaving Kozo behind. Arriving alone, she is rejected by Kyoto society. She quits the hospital, pursues singing, debuting with the hit “Aizen Katsura,” with Kozo in the audience.
