Obeying her father's dying wish, Grand Duchess Aurora (Huguette Duflos) is compelled to marry the brooding Grand Duke Rudolph (Henry Houry). Just as Rudolph prepares to depart for the Congo, he is assassinated by his own brother (Georges Vaultier). Aurora travels to Paris with her father, receives the tragic news of her husband's death by phone, and returns to her kingdom, where she encounters a learned tutor (Jaque Catelain) who soon falls deeply in love with her.
