The Magic Pudding

In the South Pole, Bill Barnacle, his first mate Sam Sawnoff and crewman Buncle are shipwrecked. The iceberg cracks open and Albert, a rude, everlasting magic pudding, emerges demanding to be eaten. Buncle grabs the pudding and flees, but the ice breaks and he falls into the sea. Bill and Sam salvage the pudding and vow to protect Albert from thieves.

A decade passes and Bunyip Bluegum learns he is not an orphan and sets out to find his parents, Meg and Tom Bluegum. Bill and Sam agree to help him after fending off a pudding-thief attempt to steal Albert. Albert pops up and challenges anyone to catch him, kicking off the group’s adventures.

Bunyip seeks guidance from local animals to locate his parents. A watermelon-bearing bandicoot hints at asking others, but the frog on the log holds the final answer. The journey points toward meeting the frog who can illuminate the path forward.

Meanwhile, Buncle is revealed to be alive, living underground with slaves, including Meg and Tom who bring him food while he waits for Albert. The pudding thieves continue their attempts to steal Albert but are foiled for now. Bunyip experiences a dream of his parents after falling into a creek during the search.

Bunyip finally meets the frog on the log, who presents a riddle that will reveal where his parents were last seen: 'Where two gums meet, yet stand alone, there's plenty of water, but dry as a bone.' The riddle guides the party toward the search's focal point as Albert remains a disruptive influence.

The pudding thieves finally succeed in stealing Albert by starting a fire as a distraction. The pudding owners locate their house, and Bunyip lures the thieves outside, allowing Albert to be brought back under control. The chase further tightens the plan to reach Tiralu.

Bunyip realizes the riddle's answer: two gum trees overlooking a valley with a dam that feeds water into a town called Tiralu. The pudding owners head toward the town with Albert while the thieves open the dam and flood Tiralu. Bunyip uses Albert to help fill sacks and build a dam to save the town.

The pudding owners arrive at Buncle's underground lair. Bill frees the slaves with Bunyip’s help while Sam distracts Buncle by dressing as a woman. The thieves are overwhelmed as the lair’s capture tightens.

Among the freed slaves, Meg and Tom Bluegum are revealed to be alive, and the Bluegum family is joyfully reunited. The escapees join the others in preparing for a final stand against the pudding thieves.

Albert splits into good and evil halves and battles within, while Buncle demands a million servings and tries to seize control. Albert grows uncontrollably, breaks out of the cavern, and, in a last miscalculation, falls into Buncle’s mouth before being spat out far away. Albert splits into millions of puddings in space before returning to his bowl and Earth.

Assuming he's dead, Bill and Sam mourn Albert's loss, but Sam's tears revive him. The pudding owners triumph, and Bill, Sam and Albert live peacefully with the Bluegums, Rumpus and Wattleby as the pudding thieves attempt to claim Albert again but are thwarted.

Meanwhile, Buncle is flown back to the South Pole and stranded on an ice block in the middle of the sea, bemoaning his defeat before the ice drifts away, leaving him in confinement. Albert remains alive with Bill, Sam and the Bluegums, while life returns to a peaceful rhythm.
