The Lookalike

A knee injury ends Joe Mulligan's basketball career. He begins selling drugs with his former coach Bobby Zan, using Bobby's bar as the front for their operation. The bar becomes the hub where Joe's new life starts and where subsequent events unfold.

Drug lord William Spinks fixates on Sadie Hill and uses Bobby and Frank to reach her. During tense negotiations about a paid encounter, the chandelier above the table collapses and Sadie dies. Her accidental death threatens a major drug deal and sets off a chain of dangerous moves by all involved.

Joe meets with Vincent to finish paying off his father's gambling debt. At the bar, Lacey Fitzgerald meets Holt, Joe's half-brother, and they begin to navigate their own plans while Joe talks about his dream cooking program. The bar remains the center of intersecting lives and schemes.

Aspiring actress Mila meets a man who offers nembutal as she resists further chemotherapy. Joe meets Mila and learns she has a prosthetic leg and is deaf, which deepens their connection and introduces new stakes to their interactions.

Lacey and Holt discuss their plan to use Lacey as Sadie’s lookalike, while Lacey pretends to be part of the ordinary social scene. She quietly removes a wire to avoid charges, revealing she is there with a hidden purpose tied to the police’s aims against Joe.

Bobby and Frank plot to replace Sadie with a lookalike to fool Spinks. A deal is struck: Joe will help finance a cooking show, and there will be 500,000 to split, with Holt needing 100,000 by Sunday to secure a Sadie lookalike.

Holt presents Lacey as the Sadie lookalike to Joe. Lacey treats it as a possible acting gig to revive her career, while Mila watches closely as the plan unfolds. The decision cements the deception that underpins the rest of the plot.

Mila talks with Drew about the shoes when Joe notices Sadie’s photo in his wallet. Frank abducts Drew and tries to drown her, but she manages to escape. Drew calls Mila while Joe is confronted with the broader cooking-show dream and the looming dangers around Sadie.

Mila chloroforms Holt and Lacey to take Mila's place, intensifying the substitution plot. Joe races across town, realizing Mila has involved his lookalike scheme, and arrives too late to prevent a dangerous snuff-film scenario.

In the snuff-film setup, Sadie’s identity is weaponized, and Spinks informs Sadie’s father Al of his daughter Georgia’s supposed suicide. Mila is shot by Spinks during the confrontation, and Joe engages in a violent struggle, ultimately turning his gun on Spinks.

Joe escapes with the money and shoots Frank after learning of the conspiracy around Sadie. Meanwhile, cops close in on Bobby as he tries to destroy evidence of his coke operation, and Officer Garner eliminates him to end the scheme.

Mila sends a letter explaining her terminal cancer and her decision to sacrifice herself for the others. Garner helps Lacey by arranging her payoff and reveals Holt's coke habit, after which Lacey takes a solo vacation and escapes the old life. Joe takes over Mila's Bar and launches his cooking show to begin a new chapter.
