Freed Polish soldiers are holed up in a German town during the final days of World II. After a concentration‑camp worker rapes a local doctor’s daughter, they shelter her and her father in their quarters. Awaiting repatriation, they repel an attacking German squad, a clash that sparks fear, anger and a lingering hope as they again face enemy fire.
