A nine‑year‑old boy, Charlie McCarthy, is sent by his teacher to an eye doctor for persistent headaches and school absences. During the exam, aided by a nurse, the doctor discovers Charlie spends his free time fishing. After recommending glasses, Charlie persuades the doctor to join him on a fishing outing.
