The Devil's Mouth (2026) Plot Summary & Ending Explained

Sara, Max, and James are the last survivors, but James becomes trapped in a narrow underwater passage and sends the women ahead rather than exhaust their remaining air. Max finally agrees to Sara's route toward the ocean lookout, yet her injured hands force Sara to haul her by rope. The shark attacks Max and drags Sara back through the tunnels; Sara cuts herself free, then uses her blood and movement as bait. Remembering that the limestone is fragile, she makes the shark ram the wall repeatedly until the cave collapses and crushes it. Max dies in the attack, leaving Sara as the only person to emerge from the Devil's Mouth.

Debris wounds Sara, but the current carries her toward an opening and she climbs to a high ledge above the beach. Boats are visible below, although the drop is too dangerous, so the film leaves her laughing with relief and shouting for help rather than showing a completed rescue.
