The Dead Pool

Inspector Harry Callahan testifies against the notorious crime lord Lou Janero in a high-profile case. This victory comes at a significant cost as Callahan's reputation is tarnished, making him a target for Janero's henchmen as well as the media.

Following the testimony, Callahan is ambushed by four hitmen sent by Janero. Demonstrating his signature skill and bravery, Callahan swiftly eliminates the threat, but not without realizing the increased danger surrounding him.

The SFPD assigns Callahan a partner, Al Quan, with the grim reminder that collaborations often lead to tragic outcomes. Despite the warning, Callahan reluctantly accepts the partnership as they begin their investigation into a new case.

Callahan and Quan investigate the overdose of rock star Johnny Squares, found dead in his trailer during a music video shoot. They uncover unsettling evidence suggesting that Squares’ death was not an accident but a calculated murder.

The murderous plot thickens when Dean Madison, a producer linked to a dark 'dead pool', is killed during a robbery at a Chinatown eatery. Callahan and Quan recover a list from Madison’s pocket that includes the names of several impending victims.

Movie critic Molly Fisher, who is also on the list, becomes the next victim in this deadly game. The murderer, posing as the film director Peter Swan, creates chaos among the remaining celebrities, intensifying the investigation.

Callahan encounters journalist Samantha Walker, who aims to profile him in exchange for dropping a lawsuit. Despite his skepticism of her motives, the urgency of the situation leads Callahan to reluctantly partner with her.

Seeking to alleviate the pressure from Janero's men, Callahan manipulates an inmate named Butcher Hicks into threatening Janero. This risky strategy leads to a temporary cease in assaults against him and assigns bodyguards as a twisted form of protection.

Gus Wheeler attempts to gain notoriety by immolating himself, claiming responsibility for the murders. However, his gruesome stunt is interrupted when Callahan risks himself to save Walker from the flames, fostering an unexpected connection.

Swan reveals to Callahan and Quan that Harlan Rook, a deranged fan, believes that Swan has stolen his ideas. As Rook's erratic behavior escalates, he kills Nolan Kennard using an explosive device disguised in a toy car.

Amidst a high-octane chase through the city, Callahan and Quan pursue Rook as he unleashes chaos. Callahan, determined to stop Rook, maneuvers successfully, absorbing a blast meant for Quan during the chase.

Under the guise of Swan, Rook lures Samantha Walker to an exclusive interview but instead kidnaps her. Callahan and Quan locate Rook's hideout, filled with his disturbing memorabilia and a gruesome version of the dead pool list.

In a tense standoff, Rook holds Walker hostage and demands Callahan's weapon. The high-stakes confrontation culminates at the pier where Callahan turns the tables on Rook, showcasing his skills with a harpoon cannon.

With law enforcement closing in, Callahan escapes the chaotic scene with Walker, leaving behind the turmoil that has engulfed their lives. The culmination of danger solidifies their bond amidst the chaos of San Francisco's elite.
