Ending explained
How The Curse of the Necklace (2024) ends, in short: the final scene, the last twist and what it means for the characters. The full ending explained, with every spoiler, lives on its own page.
In the film's climax, Ellen manages to connect with Jonah’s spirit, who had been hiding in fear during the seance. Despite Judith (who is possessed by William’s spirit) attacking her family, Ellen risks her own safety to communicate with Jonah and ask him to possess her. This act of love is the only way to free William’s spirit from the evil's grip, as loving words and compassion are what he desperately needed. When Jonah’s spirit enters Ellen, he is able to persuade William to leave Judith’s body, promising love and understanding. With that, the evil disappears, and William’s spirit is freed, but only temporarily. The cursed necklace, which was the vessel of this malevolent force, is left in question—it’s unclear whether it was destroyed or simply hidden away again, leaving a lingering threat.
The ending scene, showing Ellen waking up and discovering she is wearing the cursed necklace with her father’s trapped spirit inside, suggests that the evil is not entirely gone. It indicates that the spirit of Frank might now be possessed by the same sinister force. The film leaves open the possibility that the evil could return, hinting at a potential sequel where Laura’s family might have to confront this ongoing darkness and attempt to break the curse once and for all. Never fully destroyed, the necklace remains a symbol of the perpetual threat posed by the malevolent spirits trapped within, showing that although love and compassion can free spirits temporarily, the curse may still endure in some form.
