Near the conclusion, Lina visits the mother she avoided for years and learns that her mother suffered a breakdown and provided little care when Lina needed it. Lina’s detachment from Sofia and attempts to flee motherhood now have context, though not a simple diagnosis. In the final movement she imagines jumping from a balcony, then turns from that possibility, returns to Sofia, and embraces her daughter. The film stops at that moment of contact without claiming Lina’s crisis has ended or that she can reliably sustain the maternal role afterward.

The embrace matters because it remains provisional. Lina interrupts the inherited pattern of absence for one moment, choosing connection after confronting both her mother’s failure and her own urge to disappear. Yet the fantasy of jumping and unexplained fluctuations in her behavior prevent the image from becoming a cure. Insight into family history does not automatically produce health, and love does not erase incapacity. What changes is Lina’s direction in the immediate present: she moves toward Sofia rather than away, offering a fragile opening whose durability neither she nor the audience can know.
