A ten‑year‑old girl is found murdered in a small Breton town. Her art teacher René, a professional painter, was the last to see her alive, so the inspector questions him. The close‑knit community at the Bar des Amis grows suspicious, children stop taking lessons, and his nurse wife Viviane tries to protect him. A self‑absorbed media writer complicates the case.
