On April 26 1986 a 1,000‑foot flame rose over Ukraine as Chernobyl’s fourth reactor exploded. The Soviet Union mobilized 500,000 workers to contain radiation, build a concrete “sarcophagus” around the damaged core and prevent a second blast that could have devastated half of Europe. Featuring eyewitness testimony and unseen footage, the documentary offers the first detailed account of the Battle of Chernobyl.
