The film reconstructs Stan Brakhage’s experimental work Dog Star Man by presenting its four original reels in a systematic order: first the complete four‑roll sequence, then every possible three‑roll combination, followed by each two‑roll pairing, and finally the rolls individually. It follows a man climbing a mountain with his dog to cut down a tree, where he experiences an ambiguous, transcendental moment.
