Tanu Weds Manu

Dr. Manoj Sharma, also known as Manu, arrives back in Delhi after being in London. He travels with his parents, Kishan and Anju, to meet his prospective bride, Tanuja Trivedi, in Kanpur. The family prepares for the marriage while Tanu is initially unwell during their first meeting.

Manu visits Tanu at her home, where she is asleep due to her fever. He finds her adorable and kisses her cheeks while she sleeps, confirming his love and approval for her. Their family begins preparations for the wedding following this meeting.

Immediately after the wedding is announced, both families leave for a pilgrimage to Mata Vaishno Devi. This trip is part of the traditional rituals before the wedding ceremony takes place.

During the trip, Tanu confesses to Manu that she already has a boyfriend, Awasthi, who is a railway contractor. She admits she plans to marry him against her parents' wishes and openly dislikes being pressured to marry Manu.

Faced with Tanu's rejection, Manu informs his parents about his feelings and considers looking for other marriage prospects. Despite their efforts, he remains determined to marry Tanu and prepares to return to India alone.

Manu, accompanied by Pappi, travels to Kapurthala for Jassi's wedding, where he meets Tanu’s best friend, Payal. Manu hopes to win Tanu's heart during this visit, and Tanu is seen as still having feelings for Manu despite her relationship with Awasthi.

During Jassi's wedding, Manu and Tanu meet again. Tanu is aware of Manu's feelings, and they exchange glances. A local Romeo, Bampi, notices Tanu with Manu and informs her parents, causing concern over her intentions.

Tanu openly admits she has had multiple boyfriends, revealing her rebellious nature. Payal tries to persuade her to consider Manu's genuine nature, but Tanu remains committed to her love for Awasthi, causing Manu to feel dejected.

Raja, a family friend and brother of a girl Manu visited, also loves Tanu and comes to Punjab to marry her. He confesses his love and proposes marriage, setting the stage for a love triangle involving Manu, Tanu, and Raja.

Raja and Manu plan to marry Tanu simultaneously, but their efforts are hampered when the wedding registry office is closed. Raja then threatens Manu with a gun to prevent him from marrying Tanu by legal means.

Raja, remembering his promise to Manu, chooses to withdraw his threat and agrees to marry Tanu himself. Manu and Tanu both express their love publicly, sealing the decision to marry against obstacles.

Despite Raja's protests and threats, Tanu finalizes her marriage with Manu in a traditional ceremony. Raja's attempt to stop the wedding is foiled when he remembers his earlier promise, leading to Tanu and Manu becoming husband and wife.
