Deepu, Kunjunju, and Ashtamoorthy become lodgers on the top floor of Sophy's house. They soon realize Kamala and Padma live there and all three develop crushes on Kamala. The arrangement sets up a lively love triangle that drives much of the early action.

Kunjunju attempts to seduce Kamala, ignoring her warning with a knife. Kamala's threat reveals her boundary and the tension in their budding relationship. The moment underscores the volatile mix of attraction and danger among the trio.

Ashtamoorthy pretends to have kidney stones to skip classes and spend time with Kamala. To curb this, Kunjunju and Deepu appoint him as Kamala's Rakhi brother, intending to block his advances. The ruse adds comic relief but also deepens rivalries among the friends.

Chandramathi arrives and orders Sophy to leave due to unpaid rent, shocking the tenants. Sophy suffers a heart attack and dies in the hospital shortly after. The family must cope with grief while facing a grim housing crisis.

Chandramathi gives them one week to stay, but Abbas rebukes her heartlessly. To cope with the stress, Kamala, Padma, and the boys take a trip to refresh themselves, strengthening bonds even as tensions simmer.

Philippose comes from Chennai to visit his nieces and to collect belongings, but the men eject him for disturbing Padma and Kamala. His presence stirs unease and foreshadows outside interference in their lives.

Kunjunju makes another attempt to woo Kamala, but during the confrontation she accidentally fractures his leg. The accident forces Kamala to rely on Deepu and Moorthy for protection. The injury also deepens the emotional strain among the trio.

Deepu and Moorthy guard Kamala's boundaries as Kunjunju visits her to express his love. Deepu and Moorthy confront him when they find him at her house, leading Deepu to attack in a moment of anger. Kamala orders all three to leave, escalating the breakup of their shared life.

Deepu goes to Abbas's house while Moorthy and Kunjunju retreat to a hotel. Moorthy decides to bring Kunjunju back to make peace with Kamala and Deepu, signaling a fragile attempt at reconciliation amid lingering tensions.

That night, Deepu confesses his feelings for Kamala to Kunjunju. In a turn of restraint and friendship, Kunjunju sacrifices his own feelings and urges Deepu to tell Kamala how he truly feels. The moment cements the selfless bond between the two friends.

While Deepu is jogging, Kamala gives him a flower and reassures there is no problem between them. Deepu later realises that Padma had come in Kamala's place that day, as Kamala was unwell. He then gives the flower to a small girl, hinting at misdirected affection and shifting loyalties.

Padma tests Kamala's reaction by insulting Kunjunju, which underscores Kamala's deepening love for him. Eventually Kamala confesses to Kunjunju that she loves him, but he hesitates, choosing not to betray Deepu and claiming his feelings were partly strategic.

Kunjunju tells Kamala he was merely pretending to love her to protect Deepu. She leaves in tears, and he resolves to forget her, recognizing the impossible triangle they've formed. Deepu remains torn between his love for Kamala and his friendship with Kunjunju.

Before departure, the group joins Kamala and Padma for a last trip. Padma falls from a rock and dies, leaving Kamala devastated and the future uncertain for the trio. The tragedy shadows the group as they prepare to part ways.

The boys rush to Chennai after Kamala is taken there by Philippose, whom they thrash. Philippose takes them to Kamala, who he loves like a daughter, and she ultimately accepts Kunjunju's love. Returning to Kerala, Deepu encounters a new love interest, Laila, on a balcony, hinting at a hopeful future.
