After six centuries of Swedish rule over Finland, the conflict with Russia ended in 1809, making Finland a Grand Duchy of the Russian czar. This early‑19th‑century period drama follows modest soldier Sven Tuuva, an unremarkable hero whose exploits are softened by the charms of a fellow countryman. It shows harsh battle scenes and quiet camaraderie.
