Ending explained
How Spirál (2020) ends, in short: the final scene, the last twist and what it means for the characters. The full ending explained, with every spoiler, lives on its own page.
The final act erupts inside the precinct, where a rigged contraption hangs Chief Marcus Brazos over the floor like a grotesque trophy. Emerson—the rookie partner who has been feeding Zeke clues all along—reveals himself as the copy‑cat Jigsaw killer. He slides a gun with a single bullet into Zeke’s hand and forces him into a last‑minute test: pull the trigger on a moving target that will free the chief, or turn the gun on Emerson and end the massacre.
Zeke, still haunted by the memory of the department’s brutal past, cannot bring himself to kill his own father. He pulls the trigger on the target, and the mechanism releases Marcus, who drops into a second trap that fires a hidden rifle, killing him instantly. In the chaos, Emerson disappears through a hidden exit, leaving the police force shattered and the chief’s corpse on the floor.
The film closes with Zeke staring at the dead body of the man who once embodied the corrupt system he once served, while the escaped killer’s taunting voice suggests that the spiral of vengeance is far from over. He now carries the weight of both his father’s sins and his own loss, setting the stage for a new, personal hunt.
