Sons of Provo

Will and Danny Jensen, a LDS boy-band from Provo, Utah, lose their third member for 'artistic reasons.' They search for a new third member and consider several prospects. The star of a local Forever Plaid production declines without reservation, prompting them to pursue a different replacement.

They stage an impromptu try-out for Kirby Laybourne, a costar from Forever Plaid, and decide to recruit him for the group. Kirby's talent and attitude win them over, making him the new third member.

The band hires Will and Danny's nephew Grayson Jensen as manager to handle bookings and logistics. Grayson begins arranging gigs, hoping to build the group's career.

Grayson's first booking sends Everclean to a local fair where they act as targets in a pie-throwing booth. The gig exposes their rough edge and foreshadows early tensions within the management team. The experience also highlights the band's need for polish.

Their follow-up show is a wedding reception performed in a church gymnasium. The performance goes poorly and sparks a heated argument with Grayson about management style. Will tells Grayson to watch his language, underscoring the growing strain between them.

The group fires Grayson and hires Jill Keith, an old girlfriend of Kirby who works at Provo Theatre Company. The lineup change marks a turn toward a new management dynamic and sets up future conflicts and collaborations.

Will arranges their next gig at a local fireside, where a neighbor with a home recording studio offers to record their music. He asks, 'What’s your band's name?' prompting the group to start thinking about their identity.

During a park brainstorming session, they settle on the name 'Everkleen,' which later becomes the spelling 'Everclean.' The moment marks their shift from a vague idea to a defined musical identity.

They hire Yvonne Bolschweiler, a local ballet instructor, as the group's choreographer. Her guidance helps them craft more polished, synchronized performances as they move toward professionalism.

After recording their first album, Everclean starts getting paying gigs and announces a regional tour. The itinerary runs from Salt Lake City to Logan, Salem, and Moscow, Idaho. A newspaper review pans their performance, but the band reads it as a compliment.

At a Utah State University performance, Kirby loses his CTR ring down a drain just before the show. The manager arranges for the drain to be opened, and the ring is retrieved during the performance.

The Jensen family reunion features Everclean's performance; Grayson introduces Moosebutter, the group he has been managing, who receives wild applause. The moment underscores the shifting power dynamics within their circle.

The Everclean tour reaches Centerville High School in Provo, the Jensen brothers' alma mater. Their manager urges Will to listen to a tape Kirby made; after leaving a message, Kirby shows up and joins them again.

Kirby arrives for the climactic moment, and Everclean performs Kirby's song with Will and Danny backing him up. The scene closes on a note of reconciliation and unity as they sing together.
