For nearly five decades, Ah Eng and Dou E were caught in a repeating time loop. The story begins in 1969 Kuala Lumpur, where post-election unrest coincides with a performance of the Cantonese opera “Snow in June.” During a riot, Ah Eng and her mother find shelter with the opera troupe, but become separated from her brother and father. Years later, in 2018, Ah Eng returns to the city and is unexpectedly reunited with “Dou E” at a cemetery, reopening old wounds and mysteries.
