Silent Movie

Once a celebrated Hollywood director, Mel Funn faces significant personal challenges, including a troubling drinking problem. His longing for redemption drives him to make a remarkable comeback in the film industry.

Funn proposes his ambitious idea to create the first silent film in decades to the chief of Big Picture Studios. After some skepticism, he passionately argues that attracting Hollywood's biggest stars could save the studio from a takeover.

Determined to recruit top talent, Funn sets off with his quirky pals Marty Eggs and Dom Bell. Their adventurous journey leads them from one hilarious encounter to another in search of the perfect cast.

In a comedic twist, Funn and his friends unexpectedly find Burt Reynolds in the shower while trying to lure him to their project. Donning silly disguises, they manage to gain entry into his mansion.

While attempting to recruit James Caan, the trio accidentally causes chaos in a dressing room on location. In the midst of the madness, they successfully persuade him to join their filmmaking venture.

The group visits the studio commissary, where they encounter Liza Minnelli. Excited by the prospect of collaborating on a unique project, she eagerly signs on to the film.

In a bid to charm Anne Bancroft, Funn and his friends pose as flamboyant Flamenco dancers. Their outrageous antics lead to a humorous but unsuccessful recruitment attempt.

While visiting the ailing studio chief in the hospital, Funn seeks out mime artist Marcel Marceau. Their interaction, filled with humorous misunderstandings due to language barriers, adds a comical touch to their mission.

Funn and his team encounter Paul Newman on the hospital grounds, leading to a wild wheelchair chase. The hilarity of the situation results in Newman agreeing to join their film.

As news of the production spreads, the competing conglomerate Engulf & Devour becomes desperate to sabotage Funn's efforts. They send nightclub performer Vilma Kaplan to seduce Funn and undermine his progress.

After realizing Kaplan's true motives, Funn succumbs to his old habits and retreats into drinking. He succumbs to sorrow, drowning himself in liquor while surrounded by other down-and-out individuals.

Despite her original intentions, Vilma Kaplan develops genuine feelings for Funn. She collaborates with Eggs and Bell to locate him and help him rediscover his passion for filmmaking.

The film reaches completion, but just before its premiere, it is snatched away by Engulf & Devour. The team scrambles to reclaim their hard work and plan a daring confrontation.

As the audience awaits the film’s screening, Kaplan performs on stage to distract the crowd. Meanwhile, Funn, Eggs, and Bell execute a cleverly orchestrated heist to reclaim their film from the thuggish executives.

Using their earlier mishap with the Coke machine to their advantage, the trio launches cans at their antagonists. In a nail-biting race back to the projection booth, they successfully screen the film, receiving an ecstatic response from the audience.
