See How They Run (2022) Spoiler-Free Summary – What It's About

In the glittering heart of 1950s London, the West End pulses with the same electric anticipation that has fueled its legendary productions for decades. Neon signs flicker over cobblestone streets, while backstage corridors echo with whispered rehearsals, hushed confidences, and the ever‑present scent of costume lacquer and cheap perfume. The city’s theatrical elite—producers, actors, and an eager press corps—move through this world with a blend of ambition and vanity, turning every curtain‑rise into a high‑stakes social performance as much as an artistic one.

When a shocking murder rattles the celebrated run of a beloved play, the normally polished veneer of the theatre district is ripped away to reveal a tangled web of secrets and rivalries. Inspector Stoppard, a seasoned detective whose tired eyes have seen more than his share of human folly, is called in to restore order. He is paired with the bright‑eyed and eager Constable Stalker, whose fresh‑faced optimism clashes with his partner’s world‑weary pragmatism. Together they must navigate a maze of glittering personalities—directors, stars, and backstage hands—each a potential clue in a game that feels lifted straight from the golden age of mystery cinema.

The film embraces a tongue‑in‑cheek homage to classic whodunits, marrying razor‑sharp wit with a mounting sense of suspense. Dialogue crackles with sarcastic banter, while the cinematography captures the smoky gloom of theatres and the crisp, rain‑slick streets beyond. As the duo sketches the outlines of motive and opportunity, the audience is invited to linger on the seductive allure of the stage, where every line spoken may conceal a deeper truth. The tone remains playful yet taut, promising a clever puzzle that rewards both the characters’ intuition and the viewer’s curiosity.
