When Lucy finally vanishes from the house, Lily steps into the vacuum, turning the once‑ordered routine into a cruel spectacle. She bans any learning, forces the girls into ritualistic games, and rules the mansion with an iron fist. Rose, locked away in a small room, discovers a hidden key that opens a adjoining chamber where Lucy lies bedridden. Lucy hands Rose a letter from Rose’s father—a quiet confession of love and a warning not to trust Lily—giving Rose the resolve to confront the tyranny.

Armed with that knowledge, Rose tries to rally the others, but Lily drags her into a nightmarish chase: a dark hallway of mirrors, a garden where a grotesque mask seals her fate, and finally a desperate struggle with a garden fork. In the heat of the moment Lily plunges the fork, believing she has killed Rose, only to find the body belongs to Rebekah. The girls finally see Lily’s true nature, and the horror of an innocent’s death shatters her grip.

With the realization spreading, the remaining girls turn on Lily. Rose lands two heavy blows, and the group overwhelms the once‑fearsome leader. The film closes on Rose, the sole survivor of the cruelty, standing over a defeated Lily as the other girls retreat from the ritualistic masks. Her quiet strength hints that she may now guide the group toward a kinder, more hopeful future, even as the mansion’s sunflowers continue to sway in the bleak light.
