Remember This (2023) Plot Summary & Ending Explained

The ending of "Re/Member" reveals that the supernatural game the students are trapped in is the vengeful spirit of Miko Onoyama, a girl who was murdered and dismembered near the school many years earlier. Throughout the film, the students are forced into a cycle of nightmarish re-runs of the same day, collecting her body parts to finally lay her spirit to rest. When they manage to find and assemble all of her body parts, including her severed head hidden inside a doll, they confront the Red Person and succeed in defeating her. In the process, some students, like Rumiko, Shota, and Atsushi, are consumed by the monster, vanishing entirely from the memory of the others, which suggests that dying in the game erases your memory of it. Only Takahiro, driven by genuine love and connection, remembers everything, promising to find Asuka in the real world. Ultimately, Asuka also defeats the Red Person by killing her, and in the aftermath, she wakes up at home, the day on which the game began.
