In the year 1985, Captain Neal Patterson and his spaceship crew, Lt. Mike Cruze and Lt. Larry Turner, are assigned to escort Professor Konrad to an Earth space station. On the way, a mysterious interstellar energy beam devastates the station, damages their rocket, and forces a crash on a planet that Konrad identifies as Venus. The four men are soon captured by an army of aggressive, beautiful women with ray guns and are brought before the governing council, where they learn that the world is ruled by the masked and merciless Queen Yllana.
In a detention area of the queen’s palace, Professor Konrad suggests the beam might have originated from Venus itself. They are aided by a charming courtier, Talleah, and her friends Motiya and Kaeel. The Venusians long to feel the warmth of male affection again and hatch a plan to overthrow Yllana in order to reestablish the “old order.”
The masked queen soon makes her move, summoning Patterson to her bedchamber where she attempts to seduce him. He confronts her and removes the mask, exposing a severely disfigured face born from a war between Venus and the men of another planet ten Earth years earlier. Enraged, Yllana resolves to destroy Earth to safeguard her realm and preserve her power, aiming the planet’s fearsome energy-beam disintegrator at Earth while her guards watch.
Talleah and her rebels strike from the shadows, and a heated melee erupts as the weapon malfunctions and ultimately explodes. The explosion destroys Queen Yllana, and with her fall, Talleah becomes the new leader of Venus, turning her attention to Patterson. In a subsequent ceremony, she announces that Patterson’s rocket has been repaired and that he and his crew can return to Earth, though Space Command on Earth orders him to stay on Venus for at least a year. Her technicians have also repaired the “electronic televiewer,” which now allows limited contact with Space Command.
The crew’s spirits rise as they celebrate with the Venusians, embracing a future that promises romance and a reassessment of power on a world ruled by women.
