Julinka Svobodová is a cheerful typist at the respectable firm Hrubý a syn, sharing a modest sublet with seamstress Mrs. Pokorná. One day she rides the elevator with Minister of Trade Dr. Horák, who lives in the same building. Mrs. Pokorná, believing the landlady’s curiosity, whispers that Julinka is the minister’s girlfriend. The rumor spreads quickly, and, unexpectedly, it begins to open doors for the humble typist in every direction.
