In Johto, Giovanni discovers Mewtwo and moves to recapture the Pokémon. While pursuing Mewtwo, Ash, Pikachu and friends are seized by Domino, a new Team Rocket recruit, and later rescued from Jessie and James. The captured clone Pokémon are used as bait, sparking a clash of wills between Mewtwo and Giovanni as the clone and its creator seek purpose.
