When Melanie finally uncovers Catherine’s missing score, the haunting melody begins to reveal its true nature: each phrase summons a dark, almost sentient presence that lures children away, echoing the old Pied‑Piper legend. The moment the concerto is performed at the institute’s 50th‑anniversary concert, the music overwhelms everyone present—players, audience, and even the building itself. One by one, the listeners collapse, and from the body of Franklin a shadowy figure materialises: the Piper, a malevolent entity driven by the tune.

The Piper immediately turns toward the children in the crowd, trying to draw them through the stage doorway. Melanie spots her daughter Zoe, about to be pulled into the creature’s spell.
