Set in 1916, amid World War I and Spain’s neutrality, the aristocratic Senator Duke of Daroca becomes obsessed with the famed cabaret singer Rosario “La Criollita,” sparking scandal because respectable women were thought not to show their legs. A decade later, in the roaring twenties, the mystery of the “leg‑less” women is finally resolved with the arrival of the sensual Lupe Cardoso.
