Peking Express

Dr. Michael Bachlin arrives in Shanghai to investigate a missing shipment of medical supplies. He must travel to Peking on an express train with Father Murray and the enigmatic Kwon. Just before the train leaves, Kwon's son Ti Shen tries to board, but his mother Li Eiu has him arrested by Nationalist agents. Li Eiu herself boards the train.

Danielle Grenier, a nightclub singer and Michael's former lover from Paris, is aboard the journey. Kwon invites her and Michael to join him in the dining car, hinting at a closer alliance. The group moves through conversations as tensions simmer among the passengers.

Li Eiu, who shares Danielle's compartment, is found beaten by her husband. Michael senses foul play and begins to suspect that Kwon's network is entangling the voyage. The incident foreshadows the danger that will unfold.

The next day the train stops to pick up soldiers, changing the atmosphere of the trip. Kwon passes a message to a vendor, signaling some hidden plan behind the scenes. The passengers look on with unease as events take a more sinister turn.

Li Eiu is discovered with a knife wound, and Kwon claims she attempted suicide. Michael remains skeptical, doubting the official explanation and sensing a deeper conspiracy. The wounded woman becomes a focal point in the mounting tension.

Blocked rails force the train to halt, and counter-revolutionary forces board and attack. The soldiers surrender and are slain outright, revealing a brutal level of violence. Kwon is revealed as the attackers' leader and orders the group to a nearby farm hideout.

Kwon pressurizes Michael to orchestrate a swap: the train and its passengers will be released in exchange for Ti Shen's freedom. Michael is forced to contact Peking to negotiate, knowing the fate of the passengers rests on this dangerous bargain. The situation tightens as the clock ticks.

Complicating matters, Danielle confesses that she was a spy and reveals her late husband was a Communist. Her revelation complicates Michael's loyalties and the political stakes of the mission. The confession adds an emotional layer to the strategic crisis on the trip.

Wong, the reporter who clashed with Michael, is confronted by Kwon and tortured with his hands burned by a poker. The brutal interrogation underscores the price of treachery and the stakes of the mission. The other passengers watch in fear as violence escalates.

Ti Shen arrives to help with the exchange, but dawn reveals a broken deal: a pilot is to fly to Peking, and Kwon shoots the pilot instead, breaking the agreement. The betrayal escalates the crisis and leaves the train and hostages in greater danger. The promise of rescue fades as Kwon's plans collapse.

Li Eiu confronts her husband and stabs Kwon, mortally wounding him. Before dying, she begs her son to help Michael and the others escape. The mother’s sacrifice intensifies the motive for escape.

Under guard by Father Murray, Michael brings Ti Shen along as they search for Danielle, who has returned to the farmhouse. He then ties up Ti Shen to prevent interference, returns to Kwon's base, shoots two guards, and drags Danielle away. The plan to escape accelerates as loyalties shift.

On the train, Wong joins two soldiers in a jeep and throws a hand grenade, wounding Father Murray. Michael returns fire with a machine gun, killing the attackers and reclaiming control of the situation. The escape attempt becomes a firefight across the moving train.

Ti Shen, trying to help, fires at the pursuing soldiers but is shot and dies. Before dying, he reveals the location of the stolen medicine shipment, providing a crucial clue for recovery. His sacrifice underscores the high personal costs of the bitter struggle.

Michael, Danielle and Father Murray finally escape as the train gathers speed. They carry with them Ti Shen's dying revelation about the stolen medicine, which may lead to a rescue and a cure of the supply crisis. The trio presses toward safety and the hope of retrieving the shipments.
