Out of Time (2025) Plot Summary & Ending Explained

Sameer returns to the old Maxwell mansion hoping to uncover what happened to his missing father, Sanjay. As soon as he and his friends step inside, the house traps them in a never‑ending loop: each time the night repeats, one of his friends is killed by an unseen force and the bodies disappear. After several brutal cycles, Sameer finally sees a shadowy figure that turns out to be a doppelgänger of himself. In a panic he attacks it, only to realize that every time he kills his counterpart the loop continues, and his friends keep dying over and over.

While searching the attic he finds a diary belonging to Dr. A. L. Maxwell, a scientist who built a time‑machine in 1914. The diary reveals that Sameer’s ancestor, Satyavan, helped the doctor by providing human subjects for the experiment. The trial failed, the subjects died, and the villagers, enraged that Satyavan kept the money meant for the victims’ families, chased him. To escape, Satyavan used the machine and was thrown into the 1960s, where he started a new life. Later he discovers that the energy of his own existence is being siphoned by the child he fathered in that era; to free himself he commits suicide and learns that true release requires his spirit to travel back to his original time, but only if every descendant of his line dies first. His restless, dark energy becomes the curse that haunts the Maxwell house, trapping Sameer and his friends.
