In 2007, Lucy Mirando ascends to the role of CEO of the Mirando Corporation, taking over a legacy fraught with controversy. She intends to change the company's image, following in the footsteps of her grandfather and father, as well as her ambitious twin sister, Nancy.

Lucy makes a significant announcement about the breeding of a remarkable type of super pig. The plan includes distributing twenty-six of these genetically modified animals globally, with a competition to find the best among them a decade later.

Fast forward to 2017, we are introduced to Mija, a young girl living in the South Korean countryside with her grandfather and her beloved super pig, Okja. Their idyllic life is soon disrupted by the visit of Dr. Johnny Wilcox, a representative from Mirando.

During Dr. Wilcox's visit, he proclaims Okja as the prime super pig. Mija's grandfather reveals the sacrifices he made for Okja, symbolized by a gold pig he kept as savings, igniting Mija's desire to protect her friend.

Mija is left devastated when she witnesses Okja being loaded onto a truck, indicating she is being taken away. Fueled by her love for Okja, Mija resolves to rescue her, initiating a desperate chase.

In the midst of chaos, Mija is rescued by the Animal Liberation Front (ALF), who reveal the truth about Okja's genetic modification and the unethical practices of the Mirando Corporation. They explain their plan to expose the corporation's cruelty to the world.

Despite initially believing in the ALF's intentions, Mija is misled and ultimately abandoned. This results in Okja's recapture by Mirando, marking a pivotal moment in Mija's journey.

Lucy Mirando arranges a staged reunion with Mija and Okja in New York, as footage from the ALF's escapade circulates. This orchestrated event is aimed to benefit the corporation's tarnished image.

Mija's heart breaks when Okja is taken to a laboratory for forced breeding. The horrifying conditions reveal the extent of the cruelty involved in the corporation's practices, deepening Mija's resolve to save Okja.

Despite the challenges, Mija successfully escapes with Okja and a new piglet, returning to her grandfather's home. This marks a hopeful turning point in her journey as she prioritizes the safety and well-being of her friends over everything.

In a poignant post-credits moment, Jay, the leader of the ALF, is released from prison. He reunites with his companions as they prepare for an important meeting that could potentially alter the future of Mirando's shareholders.
