When the ritual finally reaches its climax, Art and his friend Heimish are the only ones left to confront Abyzou. Heimish is killed almost immediately, leaving Art alone inside the sigil he has drawn on the floor. The demon torments his thoughts, showing him a vision of Claire being dragged into a locked room. Desperate to rescue her, Art abandons the protective circle and tries to climb a wall to reach Claire, but the demon’s influence prevents him from succeeding.
As the incantation continues, Abyzou forces her presence into Art’s body. He grabs the ceremonial dagger, but he cannot finish the self‑inflicted wound—he is too weak, and the demonic entity seems to aid him only to keep the ritual unfinished. When the dagger finally pierces his chest, it is clear that the death is not a sacrifice that will seal the demon; instead, it leaves the sigil incomplete and frees Abyzou fully.
Claire awakens under a table, convinced the whole nightmare was just a dream. She crawls out, finds the house inexplicably tidy, and is relieved to see Art standing in the doorway. In a chilling turn, Art’s voice is no longer his own; he has become the embodiment of Abyzou. He asks, in a hollow, otherworldly tone, whether the baby is safe. Claire looks down and realizes she is standing within the very sigil that was meant to bind the demon. The creature feeds on her and the unborn child, completing its offering.
The film ends with the implication that Abyzou was never truly contained. Yosille’s earlier, misguided attempt to summon a benevolent archangel instead summoned the child‑stealing demon; the broken amulet and its burning only released her. Art’s failed sacrifice and the final, horrific feeding confirm that the demon now roams free, forever hunting for children to claim.
