The film follows an Aboriginal daughter caring for her dying white mother, haunted by dreams of distant places and what could have been. Jimmy Little sings ‘Royal Telephone’, underscoring Christianity’s role in Indigenous assimilation. In the final scene the daughter lies beside her mother, curled in a fetal position, tears reflecting shared cultural loss.
