The police recover a battered camcorder and seven hours of footage, and from that ragged film we finally see how the investigation ends. After Rishi’s careless prank—pricking Kaantha’s finger and spilling her blood onto the Ouija board—Mangai awakens. Kaantha is the first victim, dragged away in the night while the others, convinced she has simply returned to her village, press on deeper into the forest.

The group quickly unravels. Melvin, still drunk, forces himself on Jenifer; she flees with Rishi, leaving the others behind. Later, while looking for the missing cigarettes, Ankitha discovers Kaantha’s corpse and is slain before she can raise an alarm. Rishi, hunting for Ankitha, finds both her and Jenifer dead, their bodies torn apart in the same brutal fashion. Each death follows the pattern the old villager warned them about—Mangai is drawn to fresh blood.

The last survivor, Melvin, retreats in panic and stumbles into the secluded lake where the Saptha Kanni—the seven village goddesses—are said to bathe. The old woman’s warning comes true: the moment he watches the goddesses, they turn hostile and he is pulled under, becoming the final, unseen victim. The camera captures only the splashing water and the terrified gasp before the lens goes dark.

Thus the film closes on a silent forest, the recovered footage serving as the sole testament to what happened. The deaths are not random; they are the price the protagonists pay for dismissing the local legend and violating the sacred rituals. Murmur ends by letting the legend of Mangai live on, warning any who would ignore the ancient beliefs that guard the woods.
