In Greenwich Village’s artistic lofts, a society woman is accused of killing a painter whose brother heads a racketeering ring. Seeking an alibi, she inadvertently involves a struggling advertising photographer. To evade a bumbling detective, they pose as an engaged couple, and their mutual dislike gradually turns to romance.
