At a used‑car lot, Mr. Magoo insists on buying a vehicle for his nephew Waldo. A shifty salesman convinces him to purchase a battered clunker, which Magoo drives away despite his myopic vision. He accidentally plunges off a pier into the sea, where he hilariously mistakes fish, sunken ships and seals for cars, dilapidated mansions and a cheerful driver, leading to a cascade of underwater misadventures.
