Amandeep, alias Tariq, is a RAW agent working undercover in Pakistan to gather intelligence about their nuclear program in the 1970s. Throughout the film, he lives a dual life—posing as a simple tailor and living with his wife Nasreen, who is unaware of his true identity. As the mission progresses, Amandeep uncovers that Pakistan is building a nuclear facility in Kahuta, and he takes extraordinary measures to confirm and relay this information to India. His efforts include sneaking into Pakistan’s military areas, collecting radioactive hair samples from soldiers, and secretly photographing the nuclear plant. Despite being caught several times, Amandeep manages to send crucial evidence—like the radioactive hair sample—that confirms Pakistan’s nuclear ambitions. His work is so dangerous that other agents even consider killing him to protect the mission.

As the story reaches its climax, Amandeep’s dedication costs him his life. He successfully hands over the evidence to India, enabling it to warn and stop an Israeli attack planned on Pakistan’s nuclear site. With Pakistan’s leadership caught off-guard, they quickly shut down the Kahuta plant to prevent an imminent attack from Israel. Knowing he is at great risk, Amandeep tries to ensure his family’s safety by hiding the truth from Nasreen, telling her he is Indian and fighting to escape Pakistan. He fights off the Pakistani military at the airport, gets shot, and dies in the attempt to let Nasreen and their unborn child escape safely.

In the end, Amandeep’s sacrifice is portrayed as an act of deep patriotism—he pours all his love and duty into protecting his country, even at the cost of his own life. The film pays tribute to the anonymous agents whose bravery and clandestine efforts helped India monitor Pakistan’s nuclear advancements during this tense period. Although Amandeep is not based on one real individual, the film is inspired by real stories of spies who risked everything to safeguard their nation’s security. His death underscores the immense risks these covert operatives face, emphasizing that true patriotism often requires the ultimate sacrifice.
