When her father goes on trial, fifteen‑year‑old Mignon leaves Paris for the countryside to stay with her Italian relatives, the Forbicioni. Initially prim and aloof, she clashes with the family’s earthy ways and their personal troubles. Over the summer she gradually connects with her shy, lovestruck cousin Giorgio, and together they learn valuable lessons about love, responsibility and growing up.
