The planet Jillucia, tucked in the Andromeda galaxy, falls under the iron rule of the Gavanas Empire, which reshapes it into a war-ready fortress. Junkichi Orimoto portrays Kido, the Jillucians’ determined leader, who dispatches eight Liabe Seeds to seek aid beyond their world. Princess Emeralida, Harumi Sone, and the warrior Urocco, Makoto Satō, flee Jillucia aboard a space galleon as the Gavanas, commanded by Emperor Rockseia XXII, Mikio Narita, close in from behind.
The Liabe Seeds reach a diverse group of hopefuls, including Shiro Hongo, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Aaron Solar, Philip Casnoff, two reckless space pilots who begin to see the potential of these fateful seeds. Also drawn into the orbit of Jillucia’s fate are Jack, Masazumi Okabe, a friend pulled into gang troubles, and Meia, a young aristocrat brought to life by Mari Okamoto. A disillusioned officer, General Garuda, Vic Morrow, senses a chance for redemption as the seeds spark a glimmer of hope. Together, these newcomers learn that the Liabe seeds are destined to awaken a cadre of warriors who can free Jillucia from oppression.
Tensions flare early on, and betrayal surfaces when Jack betrays Urocco and Emeralida, though remorse follows in time. Urocco survives an assassination attempt, while Emeralida is captured by Gavanas forces, testing the resolve of everyone who fights for Jillucia’s freedom. The pieces begin to shift when General Garuda, swayed by a glowing Liabe seed, joins the coalition, strengthening the group with a hardened veteran’s experience and grit. They also uncover Prince Hans, the rightful heir to the Gavanas throne, who reveals the truth of Rockseia’s treachery against his own family, a revelation that shakes the empire’s foundation. Meanwhile, Rockseia pushes Jillucia toward Earth as part of his broader conquest plan, setting a race against time.
Earth’s government hopes for a peaceful settlement, but Rockseia rejects their envoy, General Garuda, and desecrates Earth’s moon as a blunt warning to any who would oppose him. The Liabe warriors infiltrate the Gavanas fortress, aiming to destroy the reactor that powers the entire empire. Urocco makes a selfless choice, sacrificing himself in combat to become the eighth Liabe warrior, a turning point that galvanizes the others. Prince Hans guides the Jillucians in revolt, and his sword finally ends Rockseia’s tyrannical rule in a climactic clash.
Shiro and Aaron press the attack, destroying the reactor and barely escaping as Jillucia erupts in a cataclysmic explosion. As the planet disintegrates, the survivors flee aboard a space galleon, joined by Garuda, Beba-2, and the remaining Liabe warriors, all clinging to the seeds’ mysterious power. In a final act of desperation, Shiro, Aaron, and Meia launch a suicidal strike on the Gavanas space carrier, forcing a devastating crash. The survivors awaken on the space galleon, their fate somehow saved by the Liabe seeds’ resonance. Offered asylum on Earth, the Jillucians decline, choosing instead to chart a new course and search for a home beyond the stars.
